Van Lau (劉君賢) is a Hong Kong born artist who paints under the name, The Joy of Cat Painting, in honour of the popular Bob Ross TV show. Her joyful and sometimes evil looking cats are inspired by her love of felines and horror stories.

Most of Van’s paintings are inspired by a single image or item and then her imaginations run from there. The tone is set up with one key visual element and then bits and bobs are added to make it look complete, a bit like an outfit mix and match. Her artwork always feature various types of cats, or as she calls them, meow meows.
