ELIZABETH

Sustainability and female empowerment are key motivators for both Elizabeth Benedict and the Rhi Dancey brand.

This collab combines the two elements through creating a superwoman from old Playboy cutouts, complete with mesh flames to emphasise her fierceness.

Making collages from old magazines is a familiar childhood past-time for many people. However, Elizabeth goes that extra step and transforms cutouts from vintage erotic magazines into functional items, ranging from ashtrays to tip jars.

The use of erotic imagery has long been a sensitive issue, yet Elizabeth knows from personal experience how powerful it can be. Not only have the nude women in her work helped her build her self-confidence, but they have also validated her own sexuality.

Working outside in sunny LA, the artist also includes her love for sustainability in her own clothing shop, Beezzz Vintage, selling “vintage and preloved gems”.
